The star of this collaboration is the reimagined Beyond The Vines x Toyo Steel T-320 Toolbox. Rather than altering the classic shape of the tool container, Beyond The Vines created custom inner organisation pieces made of removable canvas and recycled leather compartments.

This special addition helps sort stationary, crafting gear, or small home accessories while keeping everything easily accessible. The unit also comes fitted with a sleek leather handle cover for effortless carrying between studio, desk, and living spaces.

Beyond The Vines collaborates with Toyo Steel, the renowned Japanese manufacturer known for producing durable, seamless steel toolboxes since 1969, to reimagine the iconic T-320 Toolbox through the lens of thoughtful organisation.

Beyond The Vines Founded in 2015

Founded in 2015 by Singaporean husband-and-wife duo Daniel Chew and Rebecca Ting, Beyond The Vines was built on the ethos that good design should be accessible to all.

Toyo Steel Founded in 1969, Osaka

On the other hand, Toyo Steel stands as a historic bastion of Japanese industrial craft. Established in Osaka in 1969, the brand pioneered the world’s first technology to draw a single sheet of steel into a seamless, lightweight, and indestructible toolbox.

Unlike conventional industrial boxes that rely on welded seams or folded sheet metal edges, Toyo Steel’s signature models (such as the T-320 and T-190 series) are stamped out of one continuous metal sheet. This process gives them an impossibly durable structure and smooth, rounded contours.

The brand has won multiple awards over the decades, including Japan’s prestigious Good Design Award and Long Life Design Award for product longevity.

Toyo Steel operates under a philosophy heavily influenced by wabi-sabi - finding beauty in aging, imperfection, and passage of time. Their steel boxes are built to take wear, scratches, and patina gracefully over years of use, turning functional utility into a personal item that ages with its owner.

While originally engineered purely for tradespeople, artisans, and mechanics, Toyo Steel boxes have evolved into coveted lifestyle storage objects. Modern design enthusiasts, architects, and interior stylists frequently use them to store everything from desk stationery and art supplies to sewing kits, coffee equipment, and camera accessories.
