Dreame X60 Ultra Extreme: A robot vacuum that adapts to your home
If your robot vacuum is creating a whole new set of chores for you, an upgrade may be overdue.

I can’t be the only one wondering how I’ve somehow ended up owning both a robot vacuum and a handheld one, especially when the former was supposed to make the latter redundant.
Don’t get me wrong: I love my robot vacuum, but it has its moments. Not only do I have to rescue it when it swallows a charging cable, but I also have to manually clean the corners it has missed and yank out the strands of hair stuck in the main brush. For an appliance sold on “set it and forget it”, there can be quite a lot to remember.
Thankfully, robot vacuum technology has come a long way, both in hardware and intelligence. The Dreame X60 Ultra Extreme, for one, tackles two familiar frustrations: the spots that robot vacuums tend to miss, and the amount of intervention they can require along the way.
Here’s how that plays out in everyday use.
Cleaning every last corner
Getting dirt off the floor is the bare minimum for any robot vacuum. The real question is whether it can reach the places where dirt tends to accumulate in the first place.
This is where the Dreame X60 Ultra Extreme’s Dual UltraExtend Arms - the first of its kind in the robot vacuum scene - come in handy. Rather than simply sticking out from the robot, the side brush and mop are mounted on dual-joint robotic arms that can both extend and adjust their angles as they clean.
The Dreame X60 Ultra Extreme SideReach brush extends up to 12cm while the MopExtend reaches up to 18cm diagonally.
With these features, the vacuum can get deeper into wall junctions, right-angled corners and even along the top of your skirting boards. That also means the dust bunnies hiding between your table and chair legs have fewer places to hide.
With the Dreame X60 Ultra Extreme's Dual UltraExtend Arms, you no longer have to move your swivel chairs out of the way just to clean the area underneath.
The spaces under your furniture are not forgotten either. With VersaLift Navigation, the vacuum can retract its sensor to achieve a height of just 8.9cm, allowing it to slip beneath low-profile beds, sofas and cabinetry.
Once it reaches the mess, the vacuum adapts its clearing strategy according to what its Advanced Dirt Detection picks up, automatically deploying suction for dry debris and mopping for wet messes where necessary.
Better visibility on the floor allows the vacuum to identify messes that might otherwise be difficult to detect, like pet hair.
The vacuum’s industry-leading 42,000Pa Vormax suction lifts dust and debris from deep within carpet fibres, while its Dual Omni-Scrub mop pads spin at up to 280RPM while applying 15N of downward pressure, roughly equivalent to a 1.5-litre bottle pressing against the floor, to scrub away stubborn grime.
As the cherry on top, the vacuum’s TripleUpTech does all that while keeping a lookout for carpets and rugs, lifting its mop pads as it approaches to prevent them from becoming damp or dirty.
Advanced AI identification enables the vacuum to switch cleaning modes for different messes.
Running more autonomously
Getting your floors spick and span is one thing; getting there without “micromanaging” your vacuum is another. But if you’ve ever heard yours cry for help in the middle of a video call or meal prep, you’ll know “hands-free” cleaning is easier said than done.
To keep those rescue missions to a minimum, the X60 Ultra Extreme’s AI-Enhanced OmniSight System comes with two wide-angle, high-precision cameras. It helps the vacuum steer clear of clutter like charging cables, paper sheets and plastic bags, while responding to new obstacles in as little as 0.1 seconds, so don’t have to wait for your vacuum to saunter past before pulling out your chair.
The Dreame X60 Ultra Xtreme can recognise more than 320 types of objects.
Even a change in floor level is less likely to stop it in its tracks. The vacuum is one of the first models to introduce ProLeap Obstacle Crossing System, enabling it to climb a total of 10cm and navigate raised bathroom, balcony and service-yard thresholds.
The ProLeap Obstacle Crossing System could even provide more flexibility in where you base the dock, depending on your home’s layout.
Once it makes its way home, there’s less housekeeping for you to do too. Besides automatically emptying dust and refilling its water and cleaning solution, the industry-first 100°C ThermoHub Mop Self-Cleaning system uses high heat to tackle grease and stubborn residue. The mop pads are then dried with hot air, so they’re not left sitting around damp and developing mildew or unpleasant smells.
And if you’ve ever had the pleasure of cutting a clump of hair from a vacuum brush, there’s a feature for that too. The HyperStream Detangling DuoBrush 2.0 is designed to prevent hair from wrapping around the main brush, which means one less unglamorous task to remember.
Of course, no robot vacuum can take us out of the equation completely. But the less time you spend cleaning up after it, the closer it gets to the hands-off appliance it was always meant to be.
