If you buy furniture and home appliances online mostly (and purchases staggered so you just spend $1,000 per month), this is your credit card.

The DBS Woman’s World Mastercard was officially launched in July 2012. It was introduced as an upgraded, higher-tier sibling to the entry-level DBS Woman’s Card, which DBS originally launched in May 2004.

In the early 2010s, banks in Singapore began competing heavily for affluent female professionals. DBS created the Woman’s World Card ($80,000 annual income requirement) to cater specifically to higher-earning women with shifting lifestyle preferences.

By 2012, online shopping (eg., travel booking, fashion sites, online retail) was taking off rapidly in Singapore. DBS designed the card to heavily incentivise online spending rather than traditional brick-and-mortar retail.

While marketed with the tagline “I am a Woman of the World” and packed with lifestyle perks aimed at women (spa packages, dining privileges, fitness passes), men have always been eligible to apply.

When launched, its headline feature was offering 10X DBS Points (equivalent to 4 miles per dollar) on virtually all online spending up to a generous cap (initially up to $2,000 per month). Back then, 4 mpd earn rates were extremely rare in the Singapore credit card market.

Unlike other cards that restricted high bonus points to specific sectors (like fashion or dining), you could get 10 bonus points across many categories - from flight tickets and ride-hailing to online grocery orders and app store subscriptions.

While the monthly 4 mpd cap was decreased over time to $1,000 per month, it remains one of the easiest cards to max out, reliably yielding up to 48,000 miles every year on routine digital spending.

10 Points per $1 spent

For every $5 you spend, you get 1 base point. If you spend in another currency abroad, you get 3 points. Finally, if you spend online, you get a maximum of 10 DBS points.

Simply said, this credit card suits online shoppers.

However, you have to check out your cart by paying with this credit card. You cannot pay via instalment plans. The usual exclusions apply - bills, insurance, finance payments, property, parking, schools all don’t qualify. You can see the excluded online transactions in the terms and conditions PDF here (opens to new tab).

However, there is a monthly cap of $1,000 for eligible bonuses from online spend. That means, you will only get the maximum 10 DBS points from the first $5 to $1,000 you spent in the calendar month.

No more 10 points for monies you spent from $1,001 onwards. You will only get the regular 1 point or 3 points (when transactions are charged in another currency) instead.

DBS reward points expire after a pretty short 1 year. The expiry system is based on quarters:

Convert points to air miles

Air mile conversions are done in blocks of 5,000 DBS Points (= 10,000 miles). A standard admin fee applies per transfer (or via the DBS Auto-Conversion Programme). Points earned expire 1 year (12 months) from the month they are earned.

AirlineDBS Points (Blocks)MilesConversion Ratio
Singapore Airlines (KrisFlyer)5,00010,000 KrisFlyer Miles1 point = 2 miles
Cathay Pacific (Asia Miles)5,00010,000 Asia Miles1 point = 2 miles
Qantas (Frequent Flyer)5,00010,000 Qantas Points1 point = 2 miles
AirAsia (airasia rewards)5001,500 airasia points1 point = 3 points

An admin fee of $27.25 ($25 + 9% GST) applies per transfer request via DBS PayLah! or the DBS Rewards website, regardless of how many 5,000-point blocks you redeem at once.

The DBS Woman’s World Card yields the industry (good) standard of 4 miles per dollar via its 1 point = 2 miles conversion. However, it is not the highest miles credit card in Singapore. While 4 mpd is already good, there are other credit cards like HSBC Revolution with savings account (up to 8 mpd) or UOB Lady’s with Lady’s Savings account (6 mpd).
